Archive for EP01 – Misty Roses
Misty Roses chaunteuse Robert Conroy performed a gorgeous live set on Irene Trudel’s WFMU Show on November 28th with pianist Michael Harren. The show can be downloaded in full from here and features an incredible version of Broadcast’s eternally haunting Echo’s Answer.
Esther Harris has produced a truly beautiful video for Misty Roses‘ Puce Woman (for Kenneth Anger) which you can watch just below.
On top of this, a French blog called Hartzine has done a featurette on the video and Robert’s live WFMU performance with pianist Michael Harren (which you can check download in the post above). Amongst the great google mistranslations is a nice description of Misty Roses’ ‘licked electronics, psychedelic sound-fed.’
This is also an opportune moment to remind fans that after an interminably long and unavoidable delay we are finally about to take delivery of the 7″ vinyl for EP01 -their magnificent double A-side Puce Woman (for Kenneth Anger) / Queen Cobra (for Jack Smith).
Exclusive to the vinyl is a download code for 2 extra tracks: Dreaming Of Delphine (L’Année dernière à Ostend Dub) and Innsmouth Jewelry (Deep, Deep, Deep Ones Dub) and this package is available for pre-order at the Greedbag store now and will be available in stores in the next couple of weeks. You can get the single on download from all over the place including the world-beating Boomkat here.
Here’s an interview with Robert from this months Bizarre Magazine with an extended online edition to follow (I’ll upload a better scan as soon as possible).
Click the pic to enlarge and don’t forget you can now grab the single on download from here.
“The most startlingly original and brilliant group of the past 5 years.” Robert and Jonny wax lyrical in a wonderful interview with Dangerous Minds here.

Wichita Linemen from the Black Lagoon, Misty Roses are Jonny Perl (instruments/programming) and Robert Conroy (voices/words).
I’m thrilled to be launching Exotic Pylon Records with Misty Roses’ new single, their first release since their wildly inventive and highly acclaimed 2009 album Villainess.
Puce Woman / Queen Cobra is a carnivalesque celebration of two of American cinema’s most brilliantly occult-orgiastic film-makers. Puce Woman (for Kenneth Anger) opens with playfully demonic noirish orchestration before spiralling into a gaudy whirlwind of madness and mirror balls, pivoting on a repetitiously deranged organ line. Queen Cobra (for Jack Smith) is an explosion of ripped Technicolor speed-glam guitar and electronic chatter, Roxy Bowie dining out with a flapper devil 30 years from now. Their unique thematics and approach to structure is a parallel universe where song and soundscape break down and merge – these are pop songs painted by Fulci in Mareinbad.
